South India Tour of Tamil Nadu and Kerala itinerary:

Day 1:  Arrive Chennai

Welcome to Chennai. On arrival our representative transfers you to the pre-booked hotel. Freshen up and relax at the hotel and explore the capital city of Tamilnadu.Have meal and stay overnight at hotel.

Day 2:  Kanchipuram Excursion / Mammalapuram

This morning Proceed to Kanchipuram or Kanchi, one of the seven sacred cities of India has magnificent temples of unique architectural beauty is the evidence to its glorious Dravidian heritage. It is also known by its former names Kanchiampathi, Conjeevaram, and the nickname “The City of Thousand Temples”. Visit three of the best temples—Kailasanatha and Ekambareshwara and Vaikuntaperumal. This afternoon, tour Mammalapuram or ‘the city of Mamalla’, contains India’s historic examples of Dravidian structure and sculpted rock panels. The beautiful and ancient sculpture makes the town and recognized UNESCO World heritage site. Today’s Mamallapuram is absolutely a tourist town and one of the major attractions around Chennai, like the Shore Temple dedicated to lord Shiva ,Five Rathas or Pancha Pandava Rathas ,Thirukadalmallai, the temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu are some example of Indian rock-cut architecture at Mammalapuram. Check into your hotel enjoy dinner and stay overnight.

Day 3: Chennai / Madurai

This morning transfer to Chennai is formerly known as Madras, it is the gateway and the largest city in southern India located on the Coromandel Coast of the Bay of Bengal, developed after 1639. Chennai is the fifth largest city in India and the capital city of the Tamil Nadu. Chennai is the Musical and Cultural Capital of India. The city is known for its classical dance shows and Hindu temples. After breakfast your morning tour of Chennai takes you to the beautiful Marina Beach is the second longest city beach in the world, Victoria Art Gallery, Bronze Gallery and Chennai Museum. The Fort St. George, San Thome Cathedral and Kapaleeswarar Temple complete your visit. This afternoon fly to Madurai. Transfer to your hotel upon arrival.

Day 4:  Madurai / Thekkady

This morning embark on a sightseeing tour of Madurai; Situated on the banks of river Vaigai, Madurai has a rich cultural heritage passed on from the great Tamil era more than 2500 years old. Madurai was an important cultural and commercial centre even as early as 550 AD. It was the capital city for the great Pandya kings. Due to its rich cultural heritage and architectural magnificence, the city is often referred to as the ‘Athens of the East’. It includes Tirumala Nayak Palace, Alagar Hills and Tirupara Kundran Rock temple, Gandhi Museum in the loving memory of the Mahatma Gandhi, Spare your evening to immerse in divine beauty of Meenakshi Temple. This afternoon drive to Thekkady. Transfer to your hotel upon arrival.

Day 5: Periyar / Kumarakom

After breakfast, see the magnificent view of sunrise through Boat riding on Lake Periyar, one of India’s most fascinating natural wildlife sanctuaries, where you can watch wildlife at close range and also offer a superb chance to view the Flora and Fauna. Enjoy bamboo rafting and trekking is unique game in the Periyar National Park, where you can take a hiking and rafting trip through the deep jungles of the Periyar Tiger Reserve situated in the hills of the Western Ghats. In addition to elephant rides, sail on the lake and trip to the ruined Mangaladevi temple – an attractive old stone temple situated in the heart of the Thekkady forest. Later this morning drive to Kumarakom is undoubtedly the most invigorating, fascinating paradise in Kerala. Visit the Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary and in the evening canoe down the narrow canals. Join the evening sunset cruise or enjoy the beauty of backwater by just relaxing near Vembanadu Lake. Overnight stay and dinner will be at the resort.

Day 6:  Kerala Backwaters Cruise

This morning enjoy the Backwaters of Kerala are a unique product of Kerala and are found nowhere else in the world. Backwaters are a network of lakes, canals and estuaries and deltas of forty-four rivers that drain into the Arabian Sea. The backwaters of Kerala are a self supporting Eco-system teeming with water life. The canals connect the villages together and are still used for local transport. A houseboat cruise is the best way to experience the tranquility of the waters, to see glimpses of the lives of people who are shaped by them. The houseboat with all modern comforts lets you discover the countryside at your own pace. You will have lunch, Evening Tea/Coffee with snacks, dinner and enjoy your evening on the sundeck away from polluted cities and maddening crowd. Overnight will be at Houseboat.

Day 7: Kumarakom / Cochin

Cochin or Kochi is a vibrant city situated on the south-west coast of the Indian peninsula in the breathtakingly scenic and prosperous state of Kerala, hailed as ‘God’s Own Country’. Its strategic importance over the centuries is underlined by the sobriquet Queen of the Arabian Sea. Informally, Cochin is also referred to as the Gateway to Kerala and combination of Portuguese artistic and British monuments. Arrive Cochin and check in at hotel. Relax for the rest of the day or take a walk along the historic colonial streets of Fort Cochin. Watch a Kathakali Show a traditional art performance of Kerala. Overnight and dinner will be at hotel in Cochin.

Day 8:  Cochin

After breakfast proceed for a guided tour of Fort Cochin and the Jew Street in Mattancherry. Visit the synagogue, century’s old churches and palaces, colonial buildings, Chinese fishing net, Parikshith Thampuran Museum and the Museum of Kerala etc. Spend your evening on the nearby Fort Cochin beach or ferry across to Cherai Beach which is half an hour away and popular for swimming. Come back to the hotel or visit Ernakulum city for memento and other shopping on Mahatma Gandhi Road. Enjoy delicious meal and stay overnight.

Day 9:  Depart Cochin

Next morning check-out from the hotel and get transferred to the Airport to go back to your home with beautiful memories of this tour!
